Current Vacancies - Work With Animals

Due to continued success we are now seeking experienced, reliable and flexible animal lovers to join our team. Long Eaton Pet Sitters has self-employed vacancies across our area. We do all the advertising, handle the enquiries and then pass the work to you.

General Information

Pet Sitting and Dog Walking are very enjoyable careers for those who love animals. You can choose your own hours to fit around other commitments and it gets you outdoors. However you will be expected to work in the wind, rain, and snow as well as on the nice sunny days – please bear this in mind!

What does it mean to be self-employed?

•You will be responsible for your own tax (just one online form per year), national insurance (one simple direct debit) and record-keeping (a folder for receipts).

•You can take as much holiday as you like (it’s just that you’re not paid for them)

Will I need a car? Yes – you will need access to a car and a clean driving licence.

Can I do more than one role? Yes – you can be a Dog Walker, Pet Sitter and House Sitter if you wish.

Background checks You will need to obtain a CRB or Police Subject Access check before you start. Why? To give all our clients peace of mind as you will have access to their home whilst they are not there.

Dog Walkers

We are looking for people who have experience of working with or owning dogs and are confident in handling large and small breeds.

Most of our dog walking clients require one or two visits during the day (mainly weekdays) whilst they are out at work. Our busiest times are between 10am and 3pm. This role can therefore be part-time to fit around existing work or family commitments. Alternatively it can build to a full-time position if you wish.

We sometimes walk two or three dogs together but this depends on the location and temperament of each dog. We do not take large groups out together – for our own safety and that of the dogs we look after.

You will need to meet the client and dog/s beforehand, take the details of the assignment, collect keys and then communicate with them regularly to update them on the welfare of their dog/s.

Pet Sitters

Pet Sitters will visit cats and small animals (rabbits, guinea pigs, chickens) when clients are away on holiday or business trips. The animals stay in the owners home and you will visit them once or twice a day to feed, change water, clean litter trays/hutches, groom and give them some company.

Assignments can be for one or two days, up to several weeks. Our peak periods are School Holidays e.g. Half-term, Easter, Summer and Christmas.

You will need to meet the client before they go away, take the details of the assignment, collect keys and then return keys once they have arrived home safely.

House Sitters

House Sitting is where you stay in the clients home whilst they are away on holiday or business, and look after their animals (usually dogs) as well as the security of their property.

Assignments can be for one or two days, up to several weeks. Our peak periods are School Holidays e.g. Half-term, Easter, Summer and Christmas.

We provide this service to give the animals company for the majority of the time, so you would be able to leave for several hours a day to carry out other Dog Walking or Pet Sitting appointments.

You will need to meet the client and their pets before they go away, take the details of the assignment and then arrange the ‘handover’ on the date they are leaving.

How do I apply? If you are interested in any of the above positions, please call Ewen on 07843 013930.
